How to download a Blogger video

Ladies and gentlemen, I've figured out how to download a Blogger video:

1. skim the page source until you find a "videourl="

2. copy and paste the url after it into Notepad

3. delete the part after the first "& a m p ;" (without the spaces) .

4. Decode the reserved characters using the following guideline (Encoded characters have a % before their hex code):

CharacterCode
Points
(Hex)
Dollar ("$")
Ampersand ("&")
Plus ("+")
Comma (",")
Forward slash/Virgule ("/")
Colon (":")
Semi-colon (";")
Equals ("=")
Question mark ("?")
'At' symbol ("@")
24
26
2B
2C
2F
3A
3B
3D
3F
40

5. take the decoded URL and use it to download (adding .flv to the saved file to play)

Update (Jan 22 2008): This solution no longer works. You now need for Firefox with the "Live HTTP header" plugin in order to retrieve the real URL. The video URL is no longer //vp.video anymore, it is //(random characters).vp.video.

If the download does not finish in your download manager, stop it since the data has already finished downloading everytime it reaches around 90%.

P**n is being accessed by younger and younger people...

...all thanks to this website: p***et***e.org

DO NOT go to p***et***e.org. Parents, avoid these sites at ALL costs. It contains h***c**e p**n.

I just learned a Grade 9 student at my school found the site. He will get suspended if he spreads the word to more people. There's a disclaimer on the site but it's not written on the main page, so it's practically invisible... and an invisible disclaimer is practically illegal.

The proper law authorities must track down and arrest this man cause kids might spread the word to younger kids because the site at first looks too innocent and age-friendly. Fortunatly our criminal has a Myspace: www.myspace.com/p***et***e

The names are censored for your protection, but if your child knows what the names are uncensored, please do so in giving some punishment and discipline. (grounding for instance)

It's all up to the law now, continue the damage or arrest the guy.

ATI Southbridges + Creative Webcams = Nothing.

Let's start off with this from the Creative Knowledge Base:

"Solution ID # 17557

Creative WebCam Live! Ultra, WebCam Live! Ultra for Notebooks and Live! Motion and Certain ATI Chipsets

Summary:

* Creative WebCam Live! Ultra, WebCam Live! Ultra for notebooks and Live! Motion may be incompatible with some ATI southbridge SB400 and SB450 products.

All the listed Creative products are USB-IF certified. To learn more about USB-IF certification, please visit: http://www.usb.org/developers/compliance/

A PC System Configuration that has ATI southbridge SB400 and SB450 may have connection issues with the 3 models from Creative.
If you believe you are experiencing connection problems, we recommend:

1. Check with your PC motherboard manufacturer for a BIOS upgrade. or
2. If one is not available or does not resolve the issue, use a PCI to USB 2.0 or PCMCIA to USB 2.0 card.

If these steps do not address your problem, we would suggest returning your product to your retailer to exchange for a Creative Live! Cam Voice, WebCam Live!, or WebCam Live! Effects camera or alternatively a refund. Please contact Customer Support for further assistance."

And now, an angry response via a forum post from a former Creative customer:

CREATIVE PEOPLE: YOU DON'T CARE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CREATIVE PRODUCT AGAIN UNLESS YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR THE CAM TO WORKS WITH USB 2.0! PLEASE STOP BLAME ATI CHIPSET! DON'T TELL ME YOU ARE *INCAPABLE* OF WORK AROUND THIS PROBLEM IN YOUR DRIVER. DON'T TELL ME TO BUY A PCMCIA CARD! SOLVE IT OR I WILL BE GLAD TO BLAME YOU TO CUSTOMERS THAT ARE CONSIREDING PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCTS!

With that I decided to create this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/cwcamati/petition.html

Sign it. It's gonna help a lot of people suffering under this confusion.

the .cn spam web pages

That's right, Spam is now in your Google search results...

the new .cn domains are robots generating random words from the human dictionary and posting them on the internet.

and because there's a foreign character in the domain, their IP is impossible to track.

When you open one of these pages, I guess there are a million words in there.

The codemaker of this program needs justice. International or not...

100th post... and good news.

I'm surprised I made it to my 100th post on my blog!

But here's some good and bad news...

The good news, The camera has officially been fixed locally by a Sony service center.

The bad news, we were notified just as the service center in Coquitlam were closing on FRIDAY. That is quite lackluster of Sony Canada... now I have to wait till Monday to pick it up.

Camera's back

My HD camera's back... unfixed.

So on Monday we'll try to explain why my LCD is what it is to a Sony service center in Coquitlam.

Back to School...

Yup, I'm going back to school so I might be more inactive on this blog.

Oh, my camera still isn't fixed and it's still being shipped back to Vancouver...

And the new year starts with only two courses to ease the pressure, Social Studies and English.

Might want Drama as well but I'll think about it for later in the year.

This year I can also start work experience for much more stuff. I might want to do one at Greedy Productions (the guys that made "The Electric Playground").

And so it begins...

FIXED!

I self-fixed my laptop!

Turns out the darn hard drive was in PIO mode which is super slow.

I switched it back to DMA with a bit of online help and voila... my computer is screaming fast!

Yay!

My Laptop is being awfully slow...

Ok, so I am editing one EEnE episode and everything goes well until it all started to hog down and start to slow down immensely. The slowness does not go away and is stuck like this even now.

My first guess was the hard drive was dying, with my max transfer rate at 10Mb/sec and even worse at a max of 6 or below MB/sec on files.

My second guess was the memory is bad... But I don't know if it's hogging it down or not.

My third guess is the transition from 220V50Hz to 110V60Hz might've caused some damage.

The fourth might be (in pure speculation) the airport X-rays damaging the equipment.

Anyways, my computer is being super slow and I don't like it. One attempt to get this to a computer shop to be fixed kept the thing untouched and still slow as ever. Or my parents LIED that they went to the repair shop... :O

Even with my mostly extensive knowledge of computers, I have no idea how this thing slumped off but it certainly wasn't me who caused it. It slowed on it's own.

If you wish to help me figure out what's wrong, leave a comment.
